Our client London Tea Exchange asked us to craft a new brand name for it’s Matcha energy drink. Our team dived into the history, heritage and impact of matcha and landed on a name that was succinctly to the point and had a direct link to matcha tea: Uji. The small Japanese town where the tea originates and is still known for producing the finest matcha in the world.


We developed a range of can designs that helped position the product within the tea and energy drink market. By opting for an populist design that is familiar and communicative, the product had wide appeal and still stood out on the supermarket shelves.
